Changing Probe Location for Fill Level Control

  1. Before starting this tutorial, ensure the power is off and the boiler is depressurized as we will be swapping fittings on the boiler. Begin by removing screws and top panel from the steam module.  The screws may be phillips or 2.5 mm hex depending on the age of the module. Locate the probe that is currently hooked up to the Gicar Fill Level Controller.  Once found, remove the red quick disconnect from the probe.

    • Begin by removing screws and top panel from the steam module. The screws may be phillips or 2.5 mm hex depending on the age of the module.

    • Locate the probe that is currently hooked up to the Gicar Fill Level Controller. Once found, remove the red quick disconnect from the probe.

    • Depending on setup, there may be a two probes on the boiler or a cap in place of the low probe. Either is fine but we want to make sure the fill probe and wiring are in the location shown in picture three.

    • Once the swap is complete it may be beneficial to pressurize and inspect for leaks. If all is well the module can be buttoned up and re-installed!

    • disconnect probe wires and remove probes

  3. relocate fill probe to the far end of the boiler now may be a good time to replace the fill probe with a new probe

    • Attach the Gicar fill box fill probe lead to the fill probe.

    • use provided cap and crush washer to seal the unused port.
