    • Unpack your new espresso module and tap from their shipping containers.

    • Please examine the module after unpacking for any damage that may have occurred during shipping. If anything looks damaged or out of place, please contact Modbar Support.

  2. Cut countertop using provided templates. M6 bolts are required for the espresso tap, in order to keep it from rotating during normal use. Use great care when cutting the counter-top holes! We recommend checking the template dimensions with a tape measure or ruler to verify that it is printed to scale. Apply Alex Plus or equivalent acrylic latex or silicone caulk to the bottom of the tap, as shown, before installing the tap into the counter. Use your finger to wipe any excess caulk away as shown (wetting your finger helps to make a smooth caulk line).

  3. Install the washer and then the retaining nut below counter, but leave them slightly loose for the next step. Install 3 M6x1 bolts to hold the tap in place. Choose bolts that are approximately 1/2 -1" (13mm-26mm) longer than the countertop thickness. You may need to rotate the tap slightly in order to start the bolts. Finish tightening the retaining nut with a pipe wrench, if available.

  4. Modbar modules are shipped with a molded cable, 6-20P male plug end and IEC C19 female end. The IEC C19 end plugs into the module, and the 6-20P male end goes to the appropriate wall 220V 20A wall socket. Make sure that the power is off before plugging the cord into the wall and module.

    • Always be sure the module power switch is off while installing to avoid damaging the heating elements! It is easy to inadvertantly turn the power switch on while handling the module during installation.

  5. Place module in the desired location under the counter.
    • Place module in the desired location under the counter.

    • The module must be installed within 5 feet of the tap in order for the electrical and fluid connections to route correctly.

    • Connect water inlet and drain tubes, turn on water supply, and check for any leaks from the water inlet line and connections.

  6. Connect the fluid and electrical lines from the tap into the module connections. Ensure that the tube seats completely into the tap push-connect fitting. It is important to ensure that the tap tube drains back to the module and is trimmed to size. Please refer to the attached installation poster here. Ensure that the power switch is in the middle, or off position before continuing.

  7. Plug in the power cable into its receptacle. Turn the power switch to the left-hand position (counter clockwise), to allow the module to prime before heating. Move the tap's handle down slightly to begin dispensing. After about 10 seconds, lower the handle all of the way down. This will turn the pump on in manual mode and speed up the priming process.

    • Once water pours from the tap, allow the unit to continue to dispense water for 30 seconds before raising the handle back to the original position. This will ensure that the boilers are fully primed and free of air.

    • For more information on how to operate and program the module, please refer to the operating guide here.

  8. At this point it is safe to turn the switch clockwise to the right-hand position and heat the boilers. The machine will be ready for use in approximately 5 minutes.
