Main Display Board Replacement

  1. Power down module by turning the power switch to the middle position.  Unplug the module from the power source.

    • Start by pulling straight out on the joystick control knob. It is a push on connection (joystick button and rotary dial) and is easy to remove both the push button and the rotary dial at the same time. Set the pieces aside for reinstallation.

  2. Remove the (6) 2.5mm hex head screws or phillips screws that hold the front panel in place. Set your screws and joystick aside in a safe place for reinstallation later.

  3. Pull out on the front panel and twist slightly downward until there's enough clearance to access the 4 display panel screws.

  4. Remove the (4) screws that hold the display screen assembly in place and set aside for reinstallation.

  5. Remove the usb, communication and joystick connections from the back of the display control board with care.  The connection pins are small and fragile use only your hands to remove as they can be easily damaged.

  6. With the display assembly out of the module, you can now separate the display screen from the display control board as shown.  Grasp firmly with both hands and pull the two apart evenly, taking care the not bend any of the pins. Set the bad board aside in the package that your new display control board was packaged.

  7. Hold the display screen and the display control board at the edges of the two boards and gently push the two together taking care to line up the pins perfectly.

    • It can only go together one direction, so if you feel resistance do not force it and make sure the pins are lined up. Push the two together until you can not see the metal pins and the black plastic from the two boards are touching.

  8. Replace the USB cable, communications ribbin cable, and joystick ribbon cable.

    • Take care to install the USB cable in the orientation shown. Improper orientation will keep the module from booting correctly.

  9. Hold the joystick in place and position the display assembly back into the housing.

    • Use the (4) phillips screws that were removed earlier to secure the board assembly in place.

  10. With your screen assembly now installed, line up the front panel and fit into place.  Make sure the alignment key slides into the slot on the joystick!  Then tighten down the (6) 2.5mm hex head or phillips front panel screws. Be sure to fit the tab located on the front panel within the slot location on the encoder for a proper fit.

  11. It is now time to attach the rotary dial on the joystick control.  It pushes back on just the way you pulled it off.  You may have to turn it slightly to get it to line up and push on. After you have the dial in place, install the joystick push button.  Keep the flat side up as you line it up with the shaft on the joystick and push it on gently.   12. Plug the module back into the power source, and turn the power switch to the on position (to the right).  The display should come on and say Modbar first as it loads the settings.  The home screen should appear and the heating elements will start to fire at this time.

    • After the inlet and outlet boilers have come up to full temperature it is time to test the module by pulling a shot through the brew group.
